Arillas, Afionas and Porto TimoniCome and have a wonderful day out on a short walk to the beautiful village of Afionas and the stunning beaches of Porto Timoni. (See pictures on right.) The walk starts in Arillas and follows a good wide track up to the pretty and traditional village of Afionas, offering magnificent views of Arillas, the north west coast and offshore islands. We will stop for a cool drink in a taverna looking down on the resort of Aghios Georgios before walking down a coastal donkey track to the beaches of Porto Timoni shown in the photographs. Here you can swim in the clearest waters in Corfu and/or walk up to the tiny chapel. Bring a picnic for lunch and plenty to drink. We will stay at the beach for about 2 hours and when we are ready to leave a speedboat will come to take us back to Arillas! It's a fabulous day out to a spot that very few people would otherwise get to. The walk is on a mixture of good wide tracks (unmade) and narrow, partly overgrown "goat tracks". There are two steep hills, one up (about 30 mins) and one down (also 30 mins). The first section, uphill, is mostly shaded, but the downhill section is on an exposed coastal path. There is almost no shade at the beach so take suitable clothing if you feel the need to cover up. The total distance is about two miles / 3 kms and should take about 2 hours at a strolling pace, also allowing plenty of time for photo and water stops. Start time is 10.00 at the Mirage Pool on Arillas beachfront. Suggestions for things to bring
The cost is 15 euros per person. (This includes a soft drink and boat transfer back to Arillas.) Contact us for group discounts. |
